‘Wood Wide Web’ reveals exceptional forest cooperation

Scientists are developing a deeper understanding of the complex, generous network that develops within forests, and it could reveal the benefits of cooperation (instead of simple competition) in complex systems, according to the Atlantic.

The group of European scientists studying that “Wood Wide Web” found that the root systems of trees share sugar, carbon, and a microbial systems that all deliver benefits in different ways to different trees, depending on need.
