At 7 years old, Angelina Jordan quote Julie London, Nancy Sinatra and Shirley Bassey as his favorite artists. And to participate in the talent show in the Norwegian version, she chose to interpret Gloomy Sunday in its sung by Billie Holliday release. The result is simply astounding.

Gloomy Sunday , also called “suicide song”, is in fact preceded by its reputation.

It was composed by the Hungarian composer Rezső Seress in 1933. In January 1968, he attempted suicide by défenestrer. He ends up killing himself in the hospital with a cable.

Because of this history and particularly melancholy nature of the song, the title is accused of pushing his listeners suicide. When Billie Holiday takes it, his version is considered so depressing it is prohibited to broadcast by the BBC

The singer Leonard Cohen, not exactly known for its sense of fun, have always made sure never to sing in public for not pushing the audience to commit the irreparable. It must be said that even outside of the melody, the lyrics are not very cheerful.

Then 7 year old girl knows it and does it include the words? Apparently so. Interviewed by Norwegian television about it, she said she“understood it very well,” and he was very “difficult to put words on these weird things she feels “ by singing. If its interpretation is particularly striking, difficult not to be uncomfortable to face this girl who sings the lyrics of a song of infinite sadness.

Sunday is gloomy,
My hours are slumberless
Dearest the shadows
I live with are numberless
Little white flowers
Will never awaken you
Not where the black coach of
Sorrow has taken you
Angels have no thought
Of ever returning you
Would they be angry
If I thought of joining you?

Gloomy Sunday

Gloomy is Sunday,
With shadows I spend it all
My heart and I
Have decided to end it all
Soon there’ll be candles
And prayers that are said I know
Let them not weep
Let them know that I’m glad to go
Death is no dream
For in death I’m caressin’ you
With the last breath of my soul
I’ll be blessin’ you

Gloomy Sunday

Dreaming, I was only dreaming
I wake and I find you asleep
In the deep of my heart, dear
Darling I hope
That my dream never haunted you
My heart is tellin’ you
How much I wanted you
Gloomy Sunday

The world’s current economic model is an environmental “global suicide pact” that will result in disaster if it isn’t reformed, Ban Ki-moon, the UN secretary general, warned today.

Ban said that political and business leaders need to embrace economic innovation in order to save the planet.
